Case Study: Redesigning a Travel Booking Platform for Higher Conversions

Overview
I collaborated with Kairos Ride, a local taxi booking service, to revamp their WordPress website and streamline the booking flow. The main goal was to make booking a ride fast and mobile-friendly while building trust with new customers.
My Role
UX/UI Designer & WordPress Frontend Developer
I was responsible for UX research, designing wireframes and UI in Figma, and implementing a custom WordPress frontend with ACF and mobile optimization.
Problem Statement
Kairos Ride’s website was struggling with a high bounce rate on mobile (over 60%) and frequent drop-offs on the booking form. Customers were often confused about ride types, pricing, and how to complete a booking quickly. The interface lacked trust-building elements, and wasn’t optimized for modern user behavior.
Research & Insights
- Analyzed Hotjar recordings and Google Analytics behavior flow
- Conducted quick surveys with 8 regular users
Found that:
- Users were overwhelmed by too many input fields
- The booking form was not mobile-friendly
- There was no real-time feedback or confirmation after form submission
- Lack of trust signals made users hesitate to proceed
Solution
- Simplified the homepage with a single, prominent booking CTA above the fold
- Redesigned the booking form using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) with conditional logic (e.g., one-way vs. round trip)
- Integrated location autocomplete using Google Places API
- Added real-time price estimate preview before form submission
- Implemented confirmation modal and thank you screen after booking
- Displayed customer reviews, driver safety badges, and estimated arrival times to increase trust
- Built a fully responsive interface tested on iPhone and Android devices
Tools & Tech Used
Figma, WordPress CMS, ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), Custom PHP Theme, JavaScript (vanilla), Google Places API, Google Analytics, Hotjar
Results & Impact
- Form completion rate jumped from 38% to 72% within 30 days
- Mobile bounce rate dropped from 61% to 27%
- Average booking time reduced from 3.4 mins to 1.6 mins
- Client received 30% more booking requests in the first month after launch
- User feedback highlighted the “ease of booking” and “clean mobile interface” as key improvements
Screenshots – Before & After
Before:
- Dense homepage with unclear CTAs
- Booking form required too many steps
- No mobile optimization
- Lack of visual credibility
After:
- Simple, modern design with a single booking CTA
- Mobile-first form with smart field logic
- Trust-enhancing UI with reviews and safety badges
Key Takeaway
For a service like Kairos Ride, speed, clarity, and trust are everything. By redesigning the booking experience and simplifying the form, we made it easy for users to book a ride in seconds — even on the go. Small UX decisions made a big difference in conversions and customer confidence.
